What I've learned as a writer

From our fabulous writers at today's meeting:
* Have manageable goals.
* You are your own worst enemy.
* It's okay to have a $#^! first draft.
* Don't give up, persistence will win out.
* It's okay to fail. Sometimes, a good idea doesn't equal a book.
* There are many writing venues, including blogs and articles.
* Know where your muse is (shower, sleep, music, car) and tune in to it.
* Take the first step and just start writing.
* Have a the structure of a daily goal.
* Have faith in your talent.
* Read your genre. Being a reader is as important as being a writer.
* Learn how you work to be more efficient.
